SUMMER END

It was not really as sunny as how I expected my summer would turn out to be. For two months, it seemed that the weather had its own daily routine: from sunrise until noon you'd get a fairly hot sunny day, but from past noon until evening you'd get the worst rain and you were crazy if you forgot your jacket when you go out at night.

On my previous post, I wrote that I will not go back to Dumaguete without having a clear mind, but only to find myself in Dumaguete right now and realized how melodramatic I was this summer. A day before I left the bukid, I was arranging my belongings inside my stoller-bag and told myself that my summer break had officially ended. But really, there were a lot of melodramas this summer, topping the list the one I am still uncomfortable to write here. A lot of unexpected things and events had happened. There are a lot of tears, confrontations, coffee talks, sleepless nights, and of course beer.

I was there to share the beer of my high school bestfriend and his father as he was confronted about his adoption, I had a midnight picnic while stargazing for that reported meteor shower night, I received money last election from politicians even though I'm not a registered voter, my friends and I threw a beer glass at someone's house, and even tried something for the first time that made a friend shave his head, and my internship at Cagayan de Oro gave me a taste on what my life will be like if I chose to study there instead of Dumaguete.

This summer was not as fun as last year's but it was still the best, and still-- whether summer or not -- I always get the best whenever I returned home.
